My Original Music

I wrote this album in 2003. One of my favorites. I would love to hear what you think the story is rather than tell you it.

I wrote this album in 2010 after an operation that kept me from playing for 6 months. I wrote it on my old Windows 95 computer using only my mouse and the program Sibelius — a music transcription program from back in the days before AI. Back then, if you wanted to create music this way, you actually had to write the sheet music note by note to make it happen unless you had a midi keyboard which i didnt.

Not having the use of my arm wasn’t going to stop me from writing music or let the darkness pull me under. While all the string and horn sections were MIDI, it still took me a full year before I could begin recording the guitars and piano again.

Max McEwen, who was a student of mine at the time, came in and played drums on the entire album. What an amazing drummer and person. Thank you, Max.

While this is not my favorite album, it is one of the most important albums of my life — both musically and for my mental well-being.
